What's for Dinner???

My 3 followers have been concerned because I haven’t been blogging lately, haha! I’ve been pretty busy at work due to quarter close and by the time I get home I’ve been tired so I haven’t had much time nor did I have anything to blog about. Today, I decided to work on some of my “wifely duties” and make dinner for the rest of the week…well, actually 1 dinner and hopefully it will last for the entire week. :-)

Today is Passion Week where you typically fast from eating meat…Siju doesn’t follow all the traditions and since I gave up meat for the past 40 days this week is really no different from every other week but regardless I decided to kick it off right and make vegetable biryani (actually, I stand corrected…ever since we met he’s been good at giving something up for the most part but never meat). Also, I had a lot of leftover vegetables that would probably go bad soon so in order to use them up without having to make 5 different curries I figured vegetable biryani would allow me to use up everything in one dish.

I never made it before and I’m not too fond of using recipes because I like to find my own style of cooking so I just threw something together and hoped for the best. All in all, it came out okay…I was a little short on the salt but I always end up putting too much so I was trying to be careful and ended up not putting enough….oh well, nothing a handy salt shaker can’t fix! I also messed up on the order of the ingrediants because I was talking to my mom and not paying attention...I had to tell her that she was messing me up finally let her go so that I can focus on my meal. There’s definitely room for improvement but you only learn through trial and error.

Now that dinner is made it's time to move on to laundry...

Useless Random Blabbing...

Nothing exciting has happened in my life for the past few days. I've been extremely anxious for the baby to come to the point I decided on my own to move my due date to April 30th...I've been telling everyone that date and I was determined to have the baby on April 30th...haha!!! I went to the doctor on Tuesday and he said everything was perfect and I'm on track for May 13th due date! I asked him if there was any chance she'll come out earlier...haha! He goes, you never know but according to measurements and my progress I'm right on time! I was slightly bummed...actually alot bummed! I want a perfectly healthy baby to come out early...but I also want to win the lottery, quit working and travel for a living so I'm accepting the May 13th due date and now finding myself things to do in order to help me get my mind off the pregnancy. Here's my list...

  1. Clean the dog basket - He has ALOT of toys, clothes and other junk in his dog basket. The toy basket is full and my house is full of toys scattered everywhere. I'm sure there will be more when the baby comes so I decided to go through his toy basket and throw out his old ones or the ones he does not play with anymore. I grabbed a trash bag and started tossing the toys that I was going to throw away....Simba was not happy! He sat right next to me and every toy I put in the bag he grabbed out and would not let me throw it away. He even took a plastic foot toy which he HATES and NEVER played with (I think he was scared of the foot when he first got it). It was starting to become a task to sort through his toys and chase after him to get the toys back in the trash. I finally let him keep 3 old toys and threw away the rest! He tried to take more but I put my foot down. By the way, he didnt try once to pull the clothes from the trash...haha! It was me that pulled it out and saved them...they were so cute and tiny from when he was little.

  2. Call the maid and steam clean the furniture - Before the baby arrives I would like to have the house completely cleaned so I plan on doing this on Week 37.5 or 38 weeks.

  3. Pack my bags - This needs to be done during Week 35 or 36. Not to mention I have 4 bags to pack...mine, Siju, baby and the dog (since someone is going to have to pick him up when I go into the hospital).

  4. Touch up paint the house - Siju has to do this and he already said it won't be done anytime soon! :-(

  5. Send out Thank You cards - I really need to finish NOW. My deadline for completion is 36 weeks.

  6. Set up pack and play and swing - Siju can do this Week 29.

  7. Take one last mini trip (1-2 days) - Maybe I can go to Austin or Kemah just to relax and get out of the house. If I do this then it needs to be done Week 36 or 37 and parents cannot find out...they will freak out!

  8. Print out picture for the baby frame - I need one picture of Siju, myself and Simba. I cant seem to find a good casual picture so I keep putting this aside but it needs to be done by Week 36.

  9. Week 37 is Easter week so that week should go by fast

  10. Half Price Books - Buy 4-5 baby books for the baby (old classic books).

It's not much of anything but at least it's things I need to get done so I can try focusing on the above list instead of my belly. I hope all this works....

Baby Shower....enjoy!

Here are a few pics from the baby shower that Heena took. I have alot more but I don't have access to them right now so I figured it's best that I post something than nothing. Enjoy! The parents to be.... My dog working so hard to get something to eat I'm sure.... e... The cake and label that was on the favors. The cake was YUMMY and matched the theme and my baby room! The cake was made from the same place as my wedding cake! :-) Nothing significant about the last pic...I just thought it was funny because I was trying to fill up my last frame with pics and hang it up before any guests arrive and I got caught! I was thinking too.....man, I'm good! I finished everything that I was supposed to do before the party and sure enough I was busted! :-O

Whoops!!!

I was trying to show one of my co-workers pictures of the baby room so I logged into my blog and scrolled to the one titled, "Baby Room...CHECK!" I didn't realize until I was scrolling that the blog above it was called, "My Extremely Blond Moment" and the blog below it was called, "Dealing with Annoying Co-Workers!"

What were the chances that she was blond and she was a co-worker and the blog I wanted to show her was sandwiched between the two???? WHOOPS!!! I used the word "blond" as a figure of speech and she definitely was NOT the annoying co-worker (I actually like her alot)!

Man, do I feel bad!!! :-(

My Extremely Blond Moment...

For the past few months, the weight machine had the word, "Lo" written on the screen sometimes before I got on the scale when I turned it On. I would have to keep turning the "Off/On" button on to get it to clear to 0.00 before I can get on the scale. After a few tries I would get it to clear and I can check my weight. I always wondered why the scale was saying that my weight was too low. I remember programming it when we first got the scale with your age and some other information but I didn't understand how it (1) knew who it was that got on the scale; (2) understand that I was pregnant; (3) how my weight was low before I got on the actual scale; (4) well frankly, I didn't care too much...it made me feel a little good, haha!

This past weekend, Siju mentioned that the batteries on the weight scale needed to be changed out and that it was LOW! WHAT???!!!??? The machine was never talking about my weight....hahaha!!!

I can't believe I just admitted to this but it was too funny to pass up. We all have extremely blond moments sometimes and well, this one was mine! :-)

Baby Room....CHECK!

We are finally done with the baby room....well kind of, there are a few more things that I would like to do but since I'm all the tail end of my pregnancy and extremely tired I'm going to go ahead and call it COMPLETE! Here are a few pics of the room....Enjoy!

I told my mom that this sign should really be hanging outside the window because I don't ever recall boys coming through my front door...they usually came through the window, haha! Her laugh quickly turned into a chuckle and then she thought about it and got worried...the look on her face was hilarious! :-) This is the first view of the room as soon as you walk in. There's a saying right under Allie's name that says, "For this child I have prayed and the Lord has granted me the desires of my heart." It's really difficult to read since the text is in pink and blends into the wall too much but ohhh well....we'll get it right next time.

This is the other corner of the room....ignore the girl on the couch (it was a weekday at 10pm and after shopping and some cleaning...I was pooped and refused to get off the couch). I am very proud of my wooden letters that I made and painted by hand. They're not perfect and all that great but the satisfaction of making it myself for my little girl is priceless (plus I saved $50 doing it myself than buying them ready made at the store). The little blanket on the arm of the chair was made by my mom for the baby...I love it! She made one for my nieces and now my little girl has one too. I think it's a really special gift that my daughter can keep forever....a little something from her grandmother! I'm planning on bringing her home in that blanket for the first time so that it will be even more special.

Once again...ignore the girl on the couch! If you look closely there is a frame on the dresser. One side of the frame is a 'welcome letter' that Siju and I wrote for our little girl before her actual arrival. The other side of the frame is supposed to be a picture of us...I still have to get it printed and put into the frame but I thought it would be cool and something she can cherish when she grows up. Something she doesn't know and probably will never find out till she gets much older...if she ever opens up the frame and flips over the letter she will find little fun facts about her parents (things about us before we got married and before she was born).

I just absolutely love this sign! I saw the sign at the store and pointed it out to Siju and as soon as he read it, he started to blush and started smirking! He's going to try to deny it but I saw it and knew we had to buy it (or at least I had to buy it for him). I could tell he wanted it too because I would typically have to work at getting him to allow me to buy decor items (he finds them pointless) but he agreed as soon as I asked! :-)

The last pic....the entry way! I made Siju take this pic because I wanted to capture the wall decor on top of the door. I have a couple of these around the house and I happen to have an extra one from when we initially purchased the house (Siju doesn't like it very much so he said I couldn't put anymore around the house). It's been sitting on top of the closet for over 2 years collecting dust so I was able to use it for the baby room....talk about recycling! :-)

That's all there is to our baby room...nothing real extravagant but there was alot of love and work that went into making this room special for our little girl so the only thing we need now is OUR BABY! :-)

Special thank you to my wonderful husband for taking my vision and making it reality! I love you! :-)

Dealing with Annoying Co-Workers

If anyone knows how please comment because I have absolutely NO clue!!!
